    Do Not Weaken Your Faith

Grace and Peace be multiplied to you, through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus, our LORD. I pray this missive finds you well.

Allow me to say, I have been over whelm with school work and as a result, I have been unable to post, but I am will do my level best to keep to my regular schedule. I love our interactions and they are important to me. Please subscribe to this blog and share it. I believe it will bless you. Today’s word:

Rom. 4:19 He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was already as good as dead (for he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. NRSV

Faith is not and has never been easy. When you deal with God is not unusual to find yourself dealing with the fear that you either heard God wrong or that God may let you down. We know that God can and will tell us no, but what do you do when God has given you a word or scripture that causes you to wait on God’s promise.

This is how we Abraham in this text. Paul is teaching us how faith works, causes us to examine and reexamine Abraham’s faith. God had promised to make him the “father of many nations.” The tension is that Abraham was one hundred years old and had no child. Especially daunting was that he had no child through Sarai, whom God had promised he would have a child.

What do you do when your promise does not match actuality? How do I synthesize the problem of my inability and God’s promise? Sometimes our issue is God made me a promise that was absolutely plausible when we were young, but now it’s too late.

This was the case for Abraham. He was indeed a bit old for believing his body could respond to God’s promise, but here is what the Bible says. “He did not weaken in faith when he considered his body.” Can you avoid weakening your faith when your present circumstance does not match your expected word? You may have received this word when it seemed plausible, but sometimes God makes us wait till it is impossible for us, then he does what no one else could do.

Beloved, don’t weaken your faith because of what the world calls proof of our inability, or even what we may call our failure. God’s word is more powerful than our now. What you see now is not the possibility of God’s word. We see obstacles, facts, truth, and they all add up to impossibility. None of these things limit God. The reality is you did just get fired, but God does not need your job to keep his promise. He does not need your approval to come through. Here is a word from the Prophet Isaiah to you.

Is. 14:24 ¶ The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand: KJV

  • Don’t live like fools. Eph 5:15

Don’t live like fools. Eph 5:15

Grace and peace be multiplied to you, through the knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ, our LORD. We are blessed to see 2021, and we have completed our fast for the beginning of the year. Now what? I would say it is appropriate to celebrate now what God is going to do. Shout now, for the victory is yours. Beloved, Our God is awesome, and we need to stay focused on what God says is right.
Allow me to draw your attention, once again, to some of the texts in Ephesians that I intend to focus on in the coming year. Ephesians 5:15 is rendered this way in the New Living Translation:

Eph. 5:15 ¶ So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.

Don’t live like fools. This is an explicit biblical prohibition. This would mean we need to know what a fool is. Well, here is one chapter in the bible about fools. (New Living Translation)

Prov. 26:1 ¶ Honor is no more associated with fools
than snow with summer or rain with harvest.

Prov. 26:2 ¶ Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow,
an undeserved curse will not land on its intended victim.

    Prov. 26:3 ¶ Guide a horse with a whip, a donkey with a bridle,
and a fool with a rod to his back!

Prov. 26:4 ¶ Don’t answer the foolish arguments of fools,
or you will become as foolish as they are.

Prov. 26:5 ¶ Be sure to answer the foolish arguments of fools,
or they will become wise in their own estimation.

Prov. 26:6 ¶ Trusting a fool to convey a message
is like cutting off one’s feet or drinking poison!

Prov. 26:7 ¶ A proverb in the mouth of a fool
is as useless as a paralyzed leg.

    Prov. 26:8 ¶ Honoring a fool
is as foolish as tying a stone to a slingshot.

Prov. 26:9 ¶ A proverb in the mouth of a fool
is like a thorny branch brandished by a drunk.

Prov. 26:10 ¶ An employer who hires a fool or a bystander
is like an archer who shoots at random.

Prov. 26:11 ¶ As a dog returns to its vomit,
so a fool repeats his foolishness.

Prov. 26:12 ¶ There is more hope for fools
than for people who think they are wise.

Prov. 26:13 ¶ The lazy person claims, “There’s a lion on the road!
Yes, I’m sure there’s a lion out there!”

Prov. 26:14 ¶ As a door swings back and forth on its hinges,
so the lazy person turns over in bed.

Prov. 26:15 ¶ Lazy people take food in their hand
but don’t even lift it to their mouth.

Prov. 26:16 ¶ Lazy people consider themselves smarter
    than seven wise counselors.

Prov. 26:17 ¶ Interfering in someone else’s argument
is as foolish as yanking a dog’s ears.

Prov. 26:18 ¶ Just as damaging
as a madman shooting a deadly weapon
Prov. 26:19  is someone who lies to a friend
and then says, “I was only joking.”

Prov. 26:20 ¶ Fire goes out without wood,
and quarrels disappear when gossip stops.

Prov. 26:21 ¶ A quarrelsome person starts fights
as easily as hot embers light charcoal or fire lights wood.

Prov. 26:22 ¶ Rumors are dainty morsels
that sink deep into one’s heart.

Prov. 26:23 ¶ Smooth words may hide a wicked heart,
just as a pretty glaze covers a clay pot.

Prov. 26:24 ¶ People may cover their hatred with pleasant words,
    but they’re deceiving you.
Prov. 26:25  They pretend to be kind, but don’t believe them.
Their hearts are full of many evil.
Prov. 26:26  While their hatred may be concealed by trickery,
their wrongdoing will be exposed in public.

Prov. 26:27 ¶ If you set a trap for others,
you will get caught in it yourself.
If you roll a boulder down on others,
    it will crush you instead.

Prov. 26:28 ¶ A lying tongue hates its victims,
    and flattering words cause ruin.

Also consider, Eccl 10:2, Prov 18:2, 10:23, 12:16, 15:5, 14:1, Psalms 14:1, 53:1. What should we do when we encounter a fool? Prov 14:7, 13:20. This represents an abbreviated list.
