“Without commitment, you’ll never start. Without consistency, you’ll never finish.” – Denzel Washington
Good morning and grace and peace. Today’s day number two, and I want to congratulate you. You are doing a remarkable job on this fast. You might be saying to yourself, Pastor, this is only day number two. How is it remarkable? Well, for one, you haven’t quit. That’s something to thank God for. We need to make a point in this new year where God is shifting us to where we need to be, and learn to celebrate the small victories. I know it’s only been one day, but it’s one day that you’ve achieved what you set out to complete. Congratulations. Tomorrow is a new day, and in that, I would like to encourage you. I need you to know that when you’re going through this shift and God is making sure that you are seeing new things, there are some things about God that don’t change. In the text that I’d like to encourage you from.
Lam. 3:22 ¶ The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases,a
his mercies never come to an end;
Lam. 3:23 they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
Lam. 3:24 “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.”
The Prophet Jeremiah writes (I do subscribe to Jeremiah as the author of this work) rather eloquently about new things and things that never change in the shift. While we’re going towards some new things, there are some things that we need to be able to count on if we’re going to be successful in reaching our purpose. Here in this text, what we learn is that God loves in such a way that we can count on his love. When he writes, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,” he’s encouraging us, in our seeking new things, in our seeking new ways of getting to our purpose, in our seeking our shift, we should understand that we can count on the fact that the love that got us this far will not change, cannot change, shall not change. We serve a consistent God.
“Consistency is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” – unattributed/anonymous
Day number two. You need to know that while you’re looking for the shift, while you’re looking for what God is doing, while you’re looking too, as Paul says, take advantage of every opportunity. (Eph 5:16) You need to know that there’s something you can count on, and that is that “the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases.” It means that when you blow it, he still loves you. When you achieve something, or failed at something, he still loves you. Whether or not you have succeeded in the things that you wanted to do or the things that he wanted you to do, God’s love never ceases. I need you to be encouraged today. Go forward and understand that steadfast love of God is the substratum of your success. Steadfast love is the reason you’re still here. The steadfast love of God is so powerful. It can be the basis on which you launch new things, new ideas, new ministry, new relationships. Your shift is based on a love that you already know, bask in that. Take joy in that. Be comforted by that. God’s love never ceases.
You are invited to walk out this shift in community. Join us every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at In His Presence Family Worship Center. We meet at 11 Woods Place (formerly Johnson Place) in Brooklyn, New York, gathering as a people who believe that wandering is not permanent and that God still opens the path to promise when God says, “You have compassed this mountain long enough.”
Enter 2026 with expectation. Remember, your shift is dependent on the consistency of God’s love.
Yours Because I am His,
Leo Colon, D.Min., M.Div.,
